Deleting a vehicle

What deleting a vehicle actually does, what it preserves, and how to undo.

Updated Apr 18, 2026

Deleting a vehicle is usually not the right action. This article explains what it does, what it doesn't do, and better alternatives.

Before you start

  • You need Vehicles edit permission.
  • Consider whether you really need to delete. For a vehicle that's been sold, the Sold / Delivered stage already removes it from the active pipeline without losing the record.

To delete a vehicle

  1. On the vehicle's detail page, click Delete in the action bar
  2. Confirm the dialog

The vehicle disappears from the Vehicles list and the Pipeline board.

What delete actually does

The vehicle is hidden rather than permanently erased. This means:

  • The vehicle no longer appears in the Vehicles list, Pipeline board, Dashboard, or Reports
  • Related data (costs, tasks, documents, notes, payments) stays attached to the hidden record
  • The vehicle no longer counts towards your plan's active-vehicle limit
  • Public tracking links for the vehicle stop working

Deleting a vehicle takes down the public tracking page your customer may be checking. If you still want them to see status, don't delete. Use Sold / Delivered instead, or revoke the tracking link without deleting the vehicle.

Restoring a deleted vehicle

There is currently no self-service UI to restore a deleted vehicle. If you delete one by mistake, contact support and they can restore it from the soft-deleted record.

Permanent deletion

Soft-deleted vehicles are kept for audit purposes. If you need a record fully removed (for example, to satisfy a data-protection request), contact support.
