The vehicle detail page

A map of the vehicle detail page. What each card shows, what each tab covers, and where actions live.

The vehicle detail page is where you manage everything about a single vehicle. It's dense by design, because one screen pulls together shipping, workshop, customer, cost, document, and photo data. This article is a map of what's where.

Opening a vehicle

From Vehicles, click any row. The URL uses the vehicle's stock number (for example /vehicles/IMP-042), so you can bookmark a specific vehicle or share a link with a teammate.

The header

At the top of the page:

The action bar

A row of buttons covering the most common actions. Which you see depends on your role's permissions:

  • Edit: change any vehicle field (make, model, VIN, mileage, supplier, origin)
  • Move stage: advance through the pipeline (see Moving a vehicle between stages)
  • Allocate customer: link a customer and start the sale (see Allocating a customer to a vehicle)
  • Assign to shipment: add the vehicle to a container. Shipments & Logistics covers the container mechanics.
  • Manage costs: add or edit costs (see Recording vehicle costs)
  • Add task: create a workshop task. The Workshop category covers task types, assignees, and due dates.
  • Add document: attach a document (compliance, paperwork). The Documents category covers document-type configuration.
  • Notify team: send a notification about this vehicle to specific teammates
  • Tracking link: manage the customer-facing tracking page (see Sharing a tracking link with your customer)
  • Watch: follow the vehicle for notifications (see Watching a vehicle)
  • Print: open a print-ready vehicle sheet
  • Delete: soft-delete the vehicle (see Deleting a vehicle)

The overview cards

Below the action bar, a set of cards summarise the state of the vehicle at a glance:

  • Action required: overdue tasks, missing costs, documents outstanding. Empty when nothing needs attention.
  • Overview summary: key status fields.
  • Financial summary: total cost, allocated shipment cost, agreed sale price, outstanding balance. See Recording vehicle costs.
  • Workflow pipeline: a visual of where the vehicle is in the stage flow.
  • Shipment: the container this vehicle is assigned to (if any), with a link to the shipment.
  • Workshop tasks: a summary of open tasks and due dates.
  • Info: year, make, model, VIN, mileage, supplier, origin.
  • Photo: the hero photo. See Vehicle photos.

The tabs

A tab bar below the cards switches between sub-sections of the vehicle:

  • Overview: the activity timeline showing every change on the vehicle with who did what and when.
  • Auction Sheet: extracted data from an uploaded auction sheet. The Auction Sheets category covers uploads and extraction.
  • Notes: internal notes and customer-facing notes. See Notes on a vehicle.
  • Customer Sale: customer allocation, agreed sale price, sold-by, payments. See Allocating a customer to a vehicle.
  • Workshop Tasks: the full list of tasks, including completed ones. The Workshop category covers task mechanics.
  • Costs: every cost recorded against this vehicle. See Recording vehicle costs.
  • Documents: uploaded documents with per-document status.
  • Photos / Gallery: all vehicle photos, with hero-photo selection. See Vehicle photos.
  • Unsaved changes in a sheet prompt before closing, so you won't lose work by clicking out.
  • Most actions refresh the page automatically so you see the updated state without a manual reload.
  • Your browser's back button returns you to the Vehicles list with your previous filter, sort, and page intact.
